Welcome Carl

Carl is a self-driven and highly motivated person with a keen desire to continue learning new skills. Carl passion for technology, learning and software development, in particular mobile application development. He has a combined total of 11 years experience of mobile web and mobile app development, along with another 10 years of experience working in the Financial Services Industry.

Carl has strong skills in mobile app development, technical leadership, solution design. He has ambition for keeping his skills relevant and exploring new technologies (such as; Mobile Technologies, Cloud, AI/ML, Chat bots, GraphQL and Blockchain). Carl has worked with Hybrid Mobile Development (Cordova), Native Mobile Development with Java and objective-c, and since the end of 2017 he has been focused on using Xamarin.

For the last three and a half years, Carl was the team leader and tech lead of a smaller software development team for a mutual bank. This team consisted of 7 developers, 4 of which were working with Java and Xamarin, and the other 3 were working with .NET technologies and React.

It was Carl’s job over the last three and a half years to lead and mentor these development teams in bringing new features and upgrades to the platforms they are working on. Ensuring secure development practices, solution and technical design for these systems and features, up-skilling and training, and championing better ways of working. This also included helping bring Agile ways of working to both teams, and better use of development tools and practices including DevOps / CICD, automated testing, etc. 

His most recent and proud contribution was helping initiate, manage, and lead the rebuild of a new mobile banking app using Xamarin for the mutual bank in collaboration with XAM. This project kicked-off in early 2020 and was successfully and seamlessly launched to customers in Q3 2021 with great positive feedback from customers.
